Preparations!

After three tiresome days of working on our new guest bed, it is finally complete! And why, you ask, did it take us three days to put together a bed when the frame itself was delivered and set up for us? Well, I'll tell you. Because my husband had to build this:

The mattress we bought is one of those memory foam mattresses. You have to lay it on a flat surface and not a box spring so there is no give. Well, the flat boxes they sold online were like $400! Um, for a box? No. So Matt decided to build us one! It was his first really big project and I think he did a wonderful job.

Here he is attaching the tops:

We finished the night by putting the mattress on and dressing up the rest of our beautiful bed! Check it out:

Obviously the room itself needs some work...but you should've seen it before. Picture an empty room because the night stand and the chest are also new. Big improvement people! And the bed is so comfy!

And to make my parents' experience just that much more fabulous...I finally did what I have wanted to do for all of my guests! Yes, you guessed it. I made towel animals!

Duck

It's hard to tell because of the black towel, but this is a cobra.

Elephant

Stingray!

Matt was a huge help with these animals...seeing as I had only figured out the cobra before he got home and had been at it for quite some time. My cow and gorilla were big FAILS. Thanks sweetie!

Honeymoon!

For our honeymoon, Matt and I took a cruise! It was my first cruise and we had just the best time. I mean, give me free food 24 hours a day and I can pretty much make my own fun.

We set sail out of Ft. Lauderdale. Matt and I were unclear as to if we would be able to eat as soon as we got on the ship (answer=yes!) and we were starving so we had the taxi driver drop us off at a restaurant outside the port. He assured us we could easily walk to our ship from there...so he left us with all of our luggage for a week long cruise and off he went.

Well let me tell you, when Matt and I walked the many, many blocks on the busy, busy street to just get to the port...we knew we had a problem. We approached the man at the gate to the port and he said, "You're walking?" and looked at us like we were nuts. Well, in reality, we were. I have no idea how many miles we walked to get to our ship that day...but it was several. Can you picture us: two crazy in love honeymooners slowly dragging their luggage in the scorching Florida heat for what seemed like hours!?! Let's just say, I never thought I would be so happy to see this:

So for anyone considering take a cruise, always...always....always....take a cab.

So now we're standing in the enormously long line to check in. And then it happens. God shined upon us. I looked down at our tickets and noticed they said VIP. Then I saw a VIP line with no one in it. At first Matt didn't believe we were really VIP. I insisted on finding out and it turns out we were! Our sweaty, filthy, smelly grossness was able to skip literally hours of waiting in line and pass everyone. Thank you American Express Travel. I owe you my life.

Our first stop was Key West. I had been there in college so I was able to show Matt some of the sights.

Hemingway's House

Although Matt disagrees that this is actually the southernmost point in the continental United States (because technically Key West is an island) he got his picture anyway

We had some great times on the ship in between stops!

My honey!

Matt came in first place in a trivia contest! There were a ton of people participating and it was so awesome! He also won first place in a putting contest. He was on a roll! What did I do, you ask?

Yeah. And I made these!

Every night after dinner, these little guys were in our room! They were the cutest things and we just loved walking into our room to see what animal was next. We went to a class on the ship that taught you how to make them...and we even bought the how-to book. I dreamed about doing it for overnight guests in our home. Have I done that yet? Um, no. But I intend to!

Oh, and I bought this pashmina! See, I did things :)

Our 2nd stop was in the Caymen Islands. We did some jet skiing, sight seeing, and beach sitting. It was great...by far my favorite stop on the cruise.

I can't believe I posted this awful picture of myself...but just think of it as an action shot...ick.

I may or may not have accidentally ordered not one but two $10 drinks. Oops! Who knew??

Our last stop was Jamaica. The weather was a little dreary, but we spent the day walking up a waterfall and laying on our private beach.

Check out the crazy shoes we had to wear!

We had such an amazing time on our honeymoon and I am bursting with excitement to take a week long trip with my hubby again. Oh a girl can dream! Maybe for our 50th??
