Natalie's First Halloween!

Happy Halloween from our little ballerina!

Natalie had a chance to wear her costume several times in the last week or two!  First, we went to visit Daddy at work for a treat or treat around his office.  His firm hosts it every year and this is the first year we've been able to go...since, you know, we haven't had a kid before!  Natalie took a little time out to help Daddy with his memo.

Then we went to a costume party for a playgroup we are in.  Can you believe she put her little feet like this all by herself?  And her arms!?!  I swear I did not make her do that!

And then Natalie went trick or treating with a few friends on Halloween!
I have to give all of the credit to my MIL who made Natalie's tutu, shoes, and headband.  Isn't she amazing?  I did pick out the shirt....and had it monogrammed.  That counts for something, right?

Let's Try This Again...

Morning friends!

Sorry to do a weekend recap on a Wednesday, but have you really come to expect anything more of me lately?  I didn't think so...

We had a lovely Halloween!  We celebrated with some friends and got to help them pass out candy to the children in their neighborhood.  I provided the Halloween Bark.  Candy corn + white chocolate + Halloween Oreos = delicious people.  Simply delicious!

I also got off my butt and finally carved our pumpkin!  What do you think?

He looks so lonely on the porch all by himself, but I just didn't have the energy this year for Halloween/Thanksgiving decor.  I'm saving it up for Christmas!
Yesterday I had the day off work so I could go in for my glucose screening.  You know, the one where you have to drink the gross stuff, wait an hour, and then have your blood drawn?  Well, guess what I did.  I'll give you one guess.

I puked.

2 minutes before they were going to draw my blood.

I have to go back and do it again.

On a Saturday.

At 7 a.m.

Yep.

Oh well.  I did get my shots and blood drawn for other various tests I had to do as well as finish my prenatal interview so I'm glad most of the errands are out of the way.  And the drink really wasn't that bad.  It was more the empty stomach that got me.  Baby and I must eat as soon as we get up and when we can't....we get mad.  And clearly show our anger by puking.

But other than that, the weekend seems to be shaping up nicely!  My parents are coming up for a visit to see the new house.  They're in for a shock when they see me as I was only 6 weeks pregnant when I saw them last.  I've grown just a tad since then...

Halloween Cakes...Beware!

My BFF passed along these Halloween cakes to me this morning and I thought I'd share!

No, I did NOT make these cakes! Yuck! Aren't they nasty!?! I really don't think I would want to make something like this...let alone eat it! Ick. And...I left out the really gross ones!

But I would make this one.

Insert evil laugh here....

Halloween Fun!

Our weekend was pretty busy...but very productive and lots of fun! And it started with Chick-fil-a for dinner on Friday. What could be better? Obviously not the spinach lasagna we were supposed to have for leftovers. But when Matt only at one bite of the meal on Thursday, I knew it wasn't happening. But I digress.

Saturday I started the morning off at the gym! I know...crazy. But the beginning of my week was a little questionable food wise so I felt the need to make up for it. We did our regular grocery shopping and also got a new mattress, pillows, and sheets for our new guest bed that is arriving today! Holy crap beds are expensive people! Who knew? Oh yeah. My husband. That's why we've waited so long to upgrade.

FYI: Mattresses are huge and they do not fit into the back seat of Taurus's, just so you know. After some help from a man in the Costco parking lot who just happened to have a piece of plywood in his van...we were able to get it into my trunk without too much trouble. Although we drove home with 3/4th's of it sticking out of my car...it worked. Mystery man = lifesaver.

Then we carved our pumpkin! I had the great idea of using a permanent marker to trace around where we would cut the top off because I couldn't see the pencil...and then realized that we would be putting the top right back on. Idiot. So now we have a huge black circle on the top of our pumpkin...and I can't even blame Matt. Er. But it turned out cute anyway!

And finally, my outside fall decor is complete!

We spent Halloween evening at a friend's house passing out their candy for them since we never get any kids. It was a really fun evening and ended with a free one of these:

Seriously delicious and yum!

Sunday I hit up the gym again and headed home to get some more stuff done in preparation for my parent's visit later this month. We hung a few pictures, put up some blinds, built a piece of furniture that my parents gave us for Christmas like two years ago (couldn't have it sitting there unopened when they came to visit!), and rearranged our guest room in preparation for the new bed! Then I got to nap and made a super yummy dinner I got from Brown Eyed Girl and her Beau: Cheesy Chicken Corn Soup! Amazing! Overall, the weekend was really nice but just flew by. I could seriously use four days...couldn't you??

I Heart Reese's...

It's finally Friday!

I'm really excited for this holiday weekend. Halloween used to be one of my favorite holidays when I lived at home. I loved passing out all of the candy and getting to see the kids dressed in their outfits. They are just the cutest! Except for the time I gave a little boy a piece of candy and he replied, "Thanks poop." I'm not even kidding..

This will be the third year Matt and I have lived in our house for Halloween. The first year I was crazy excited to be able to pass out my very own candy! And you know what? We got two kids. Two. And they came at like 6:00 p.m. I stood at the door like a sad little puppy, waiting for the kids to come so I could pass out my huge bowl of candy. Instead, I ate the Reese;s Cups myself.

The next year, I was prepared. I only bought one bag just in case. But we got ZERO kids! Ouch! And I ate the candy, again.

So this year, we have taken a different approach. We're going over to one of our friend's houses and helping them pass out candy. They get a ton of kids....and they have a little boy who is celebrating his very first Halloween!! So not only do I get to pass out candy to kids....but I get to see baby Braden in his little outfit and I can't wait!

The rest of our weekend will be fairly low key. My parents are coming up on the 13th of next month...so I have some stuff to do to prepare for their arrival...but that's about it!

Hope everyone has a wonderful and safe Halloween!!

Fall Decorations

As I mentioned yesterday, I spent some of the day on Saturday decorating our house for fall. I had so much fun digging into those boxes of decorations! I'm one of those crazies who goes out the day after and buys up everything on sale, so there are always new decorations to use each year! This year I even found some cake decorating tools I thought I lost in one of the boxes! How they got there, no idea. But it was like Christmas!

Anyways, here are a few pictures of the fall and Halloween pieces I used. Enjoy your little glimpse into our home :) Maybe someday I'll share more...perhaps when my parents come to visit next month because then I know it will be clean!

This little guy lights up!

Ah, the massive TV. This was purchased before my arrival...but I have to admit...it's awesome. I have no idea what is on TV though. It was during a commercial of the Brown's game.

A little closer look...

The hanging scarecrows are by far my favorite piece in the house. I've been wanting to change my flower arrangement but that vase it super hard to match.

Table decorations...

This hangs over the table! Don't worry, we don't really eat there that often. Scary though, huh!?! You can also see the scarecrow on the wall which says "Harvest Time."

This is the arrangement in our dining room...which houses this coffee table because we don't currently own a dining room table. Love it!

This guy shakes, his eyes turn beet red, and he makes some really creepy noises. Very cool!

These are the window clings on our front door.

Outside decor...

Further away...

So there you have it! My house is finally done! I'd really love to get some hay stacks or something else to put on the porch, but I'll get my pumpkins soon and it will look much better!

Hope y'all have a great day! The CEO of secret global aerospace company is coming to our site today to present us with some award so it is a mad house around here. Hopefully the day flies! Think I could talk her into getting me out of this dump? Hm. Probably not the best time to bring that up? Ha!
