Superdog!

Last weekend, Matt and I headed off to Chicago to visit my sister and her husband! We had just a fabulous time and I cannot wait to go back!

We arrived late Friday evening and didn't really do much but head to bed. That bus ride sure does take it out of you! As an aside, can I just talk a second about the passengers of the Megabus? We had a young man, maybe early college age, sitting across the aisle from us. Here is just a taste of what we got to enjoy during our 6 hour trip:
  • our very own rendition of Fireflies
  • witnessing the conducting of an orchestra (we heard later he was taking out the soprano part in his head and changing it around...apparently he's in the choir)
  • overhearing all about calculus and physics homework (who does homework on a Friday night?? Sad boys who will never, ever have a girlfriend. That's who.)
  • hearing every street we passed relayed over the phone to his friend when we got near the city
By the end of the trip, I was completely delirious and found all of this hilarious. And we heard Fireflies 4 times over the weekend which made it even better.

Saturday we got to spend some quality time with this little man!

He had his very own Milkbone that he carried around with him all the time. He wouldn't even let go of it when he was chasing the tennis ball! So cute!

But my favorite thing about Mook was when his ear did this:

Family portrait!

This is as close as Matt got to Mook. Although his allergies weren't acting up, he didn't want to risk it. The joke all weekend was that Mook loved Matt the most and they were the very best of friends! You can tell by Matt's face that he didn't agree.

We spent the day playing board games, eating yummy deep dish pizza, and watching the Colts win! We also went to dinner and got to enjoy this deliciousness for dessert!

Sunday was pretty much more of the same...board games, leftover pizza for lunch, more football, just a wonderful relaxing weekend with family. Couldn't have been better.

We left Monday morning to go back home and spent the evening recouping from the trip. Isn't it funny how sitting on your butt for hours can make you tired? Weird. But we're back...and back to work...and ready to plan our next visit :)

I shall leave you with a few more pictures of Mook. I know. I am clearly puppy obsessed and I MUST HAVE ONE NOW!

Puppies Galore!

I feel like all I can think about lately is puppies and babies...puppies and babies! I'm obsessed with adding a new addition to our family.

Unfortunately, this isn't exactly the right for us for either option...but soon my friends...I will have both! I need a better yard for the pup (and a better bod before the kid!)...so until then, I will torture myself with all of the puppies I want right now and cannot have.

As you may remember...Matt is allergic so we are looking at hypoallergenic options. Here are a few of my faves!

West Highland Terrier:

Goldendoodle:

Labradoodle:

At first I was into the little dogs...but now I think I want myself a big boy! Hence, I'm leaning toward the doodles :)

And I couldn't do a puppy post without giving a shout out to my gone but never forgotten puppy Sandy. Love you little girl and miss you every day...

Weekend Update!

My weekend was quite random and quite wonderful at the same time. Although I am a stickler for planning my meals weeks ahead of time..we decided to order pizza on Friday! Oh...how long it has been since I have ordered pizza! It's pretty much my favorite thing in the world. I'm a Papa John's girl to the core...but we opted for Little Caesars since they have that deal for a whole pizza for $5. It's pretty sweet...such a great deal! It was good...but come one. There's a reason it was $5. I miss my Papa!

Saturday, I started my day off with a little Jillian. Does it bother anyone else how often she mentions "no injuries please?" That really irks me. I also don't like when she says "a couple more" and then we do 6 more.

I showered up and hubs and I went to Chik-fil-a, probably our favorite fast food restaurant of all time. It's not super close to our house so it's not something we get to have on a regular basis. It's a treat!

I wanted to venture over there though because there is a Half Priced Books in the area. I'm sick of paying full price or waiting forever for Amazon to send them to me. I bought 5 new books for less than $20, score! We hit up a Borders Outlet across the street (totally lame by the way) and then I noticed a sign next door. You know what it said?? Puppies for Sale!!! I forced Matt to go in, even though he is allergic. Hey, it's not like he instantly started sneezing or anything. He was completely fine. He even said we could go in, on one condition...I couldn't buy anything. Fine....

It was the most fun! I got to hold little puppies and play with them! Oh my goodness...how I wanted to instantly take them home. I was in love. I definitely see a little hypoallergenic puppy in our future soon! Any suggestions?? No poodles please...

Our next stop was by a friend's house to check out their 2 1/2 week old son. He is just precious. He was a little squirmer though and would not sit still! He's the cutest thing and I can't wait to hang out with him again!

Sunday we went to church and then I went to the gym for my best run ever! I don't usually have a problem running the whole required time, but I usually end up slowing my pace down once I'm about 1/2 way through the run...and a lot down once I'm near the end. Well, this time I ran almost the whole time at my original pace! It was very exciting! Note to runners: you will be WAY more motivated listening to music than watching tv :) Shock! Good thing there is nothing on tv on Sundays!

I did the Shred later in the day, but spent most of it just relaxing. Matt did some cleaning and most of the laundry! He does the laundry a lot but I don't know what got into him with the rest of it. He was vacuuming, doing dishing, putting trash away, picking up, and gardening! At one point I even asked him where my husband was :) I did make Tortellini Soup last night which was fantastic and only 7 pts. for a huge helping.

And now it's Monday...and I am already looking forward to next weekend so I can spend some more time with my husband!

Dogs Rule

Every year since I first met my husband...which has been about 6 years now (wow...that long!)...we have watched the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show together. Before I met him, I really didn't even know this existed. Well, I had probably heard of it, but didn't realize just how big of a deal it was until I started watching it. I got hooked instantly. I'm a sucker for dogs...having one myself for 10 years...and I just think they are the sweetest, most loving animals of all time.

Here's my sweet baby Sandy...she's an Australian Cattle Dog

The show was on this Monday and Tuesday. We had to tape some on Tuesday because it ran until 11pm and our bedtime is 10pm (sad...I know...but I have to get up at 4:45am!) It highlights the rounds where the judges select the winners of the 7 different groups and then the winner of best in show. I do admit, it can run a little long, but I really don't get bored. All of the dogs have something unique about them. It's also a chance to see loads of dogs I have never even heard of. Here are some pics from Westminster's website of my favorite dogs that are a little out there...

Komondor

Pekingese

Puli

Some of my personal favorites are the Pug, the St. Bernard, and the Australian Cattle Dog...of course! This was an extra sentimental year for me personally, seeing as we had to put my precious Sandy down late last year. It was really hard on my whole family and I still struggle with the idea of her not being around. She lived with my parents in Indianapolis so I hadn't been living in the same house with her for a couple of years, but it has still been a difficult transition for me. Unfortunately...my honey bunny is allergic so my hopes of getting a huge, fluffy dog have been crushed. Matt actually has a love of dogs himself...so I think he is a little sad that we can't get one of our own. He had a really strong connection with his landlord's dog when he was attending law school in Virginia. She was a Cavalier King Charles named Cassie. He still talks about her from time to time...it's pretty cute. Here's one at the show....

We have considered getting a hypoallergenic dog. Here is my FAVORITE!

It's a West Highland White Terrier. She would be perfect for us because she's small so we could take her places when we travel...she can be alone for an extended period of time (because we both work), and the most important thing...she's cute! I don't think I have Matt convinced just yet...and a dog is a huge responsibility...but maybe someday soon!

And finally, without further ado, I introduce to you..Stump..the winner of Best in Show!!

The 10 year old sussex spaniel

Apparently he almost died in the early 2000's...was saved by a miracle from God...and this is his first year back in five years! Pretty impressive! That'll do Stump, that'll do.
