Green Progress

Have I ever told you that my husband has a green thumb??

Not literally.

He gardens!

Check out the before picture of the little garden my husband and FIL built over Memorial Day weekend!

And now...how is it doing today you ask?? Well...here's the big reveal!

Wow!! We have green onions growing EVERYWHERE! Anyone need any?? Ha! We are throwing them into everything these days!

That's our cantaloupe over there in the far right corner.

She has some flowers on her, but no fruit just yet. Apparently bees are needed to pollinate the flowers in order for them to grow fruit...so we'll see what happens.

But speaking of fruit...

Look at our little, baby, green strawberries!! They are starting to grow! Oh, I just can't wait to pick these babies!

Matt is also growing green peppers and jalapeno peppers in separate pots.

Look at those little guys! They are getting so big! Aw...they grow so fast, don't they?? :)

Besides the enormous amount of onions, these were the first babies to grow up and be picked.

Check out the size of that sucker! I swear it doubled in size with one good rain.

Now I must give 100% full credit to Hubs on this one. I am NOT a gardener. I tried to grow herbs in the house once and they all died. I have one houseplant and I hardly EVER water him. Luckily, he is resistant to my lack of nurturing and has been steadily growing for 5 years. I'll have to post a picture of him sometime. He is a rubber plant. His name is Durex. Clever...I know :) He used to have a brother that belonged to my roommate from college. Can you guess his name?? Give up? Trojan.

Anywho...Matt is out there every day watering those things and weeding. I am so proud of him! It is really sweet to see how much care he is putting into his work.

How are your gardens doing??

It looks awesome! It is incredible how much it grows in a few days isn't it! When we went away two weekends ago, I couldn't believe my eyes when I got home and saw how much things had grown.

I am like you and have a rather hard time keeping plants alive! I've tried, I've really tried, but it's just not for me. Luckily my husband has the green thumb in our family too!

Yeah, I cannot garden. I killed an African Violet. How that happened will always be a mystery! But I want a little herb garden and some veggies--heck with the amount of squash we eat at our house, we could save soooo much money if we had a couple of plants. But, I'd kill them. And my husband is not a gardener.

I have always wanted to get into gardening. Your hubby's skills make me green with jealousy, haha. You're going to have quite the little treats when all of those plants produce their bounties! I'm happy for you guys. :) Now, wanna send some goodies over this way?? I need some fresh veggies. :)

I just came across your blog and thought I'd say hi! Excited to find someone else from Ohio, I don't know too many other Ohio bloggers :-)

I love your little garden! My husband also has a green thumb...he used to be a landscaper and knows a lot more about gardening and flowers than I do.

Love it!! I have such a black thumb. I tried planting flowers and they are all overgrown with weeds. And I just can't seem to make myself care enough to do anything about it.

Oh I love to garden, but I'm not good for a garden because I always pick things before its time, I get so excited to eat it:p I'd do this in my grandads garden and would get swatted for it:p You name it, carrots, tomatoes, strawberries, peas, potatoes; I'd eat it all, but too early, ha ha!
