High Heels

As promised....

Here it is. My very first shoe cake!

This cake is for a bridal shower this weekend. The invitation was black and red so I took my inspiration from that. I'm super excited about this cake and I really hope the bride-to-be likes it!

This project held a lot of firsts for me as a decorator. It was my first time working with gumpaste and luster dust, both of which I used on the heel. I also invested in Americolor gel paste coloring and it was fabulous. It completely blew the Wilton coloring away, no question. As you may imagine, turning white fondant/gumpaste into red or black can take a LONG time and a LOT of color! But this brand is definitely more concentrated and works so much better. Score!

It was quite a bit of work, but totally worth it in the end. I am very pleased with the results and I can't wait to deliver it today!

But honestly, I couldn't be happier that it is done! Cakes have a tendency to stress me out and hang over my head until they are complete. I really enjoy doing it...but I'm not sure I'm up for making a career out of it. This little hobby suits me just fine :)

Amazing! Did you mold the shoe on something? Good to know about the Americolor too, I always forget about it and just pick up the Wilton stuff when I'm at AC Moore. I'm sure the Bride-to-be will absolutely LOVE it!!!

Haha...when I typed "great job" I accidentally had a typo, and it said "great jog." So, if you needed that encouragement too,
