Oh Baby!

This weekend, Matt and I had the opportunity to visit with some of our friends and their 3 month old son, William. We saw William when he was first born...and boy has that kid grown! It's amazing how quickly babies change!

Well, I have got to confess ladies...although I did get spit up on my shirt and William most definitely pooped a huge, smelly mess while I was holding him...I just frankly couldn't want a baby more.

Matt and I have discussed starting to try for our family early next year. In reality, that is really not that far away. So here's my question. What should I do beforehand?? What I mean is, I was thinking...this September could potentially be the last anniversary Matt and I have together just the two of us! Or this Christmas! I mean...hello...reality check. There are definitely places I want to see and things I want to do before our family grows and I am feeling the time crunch already and I am starting to stress! And to make things worse, I feel very alone in this realization.

So to all of you mamas, is there something you wish you did before you had kids?? Or something you did do that you are so happy you fit in before you started your family?

And to my fellow baby-less friends...what would you do if your time alone with your husband was about to end? I would really appreciate the advice!

Awww!! That is so exciting!!! Enjoy these last few months as just the two of you. Maybe plan a little trip for your anniversary? Enjoy drinking a few cocktails and sleeping in on the weekends!

Also, start taking pre-natals. My girlfriends have all told me that it's good to start taking them a couple months before trying, that way they are in your system and everything is ready to go!

Def take one long trip to somewhere fabulous... i am not preggo, but I would want to do that, or sky dive, whichever comes first!! Congrats!! xxxoo

AAAHHHH!!!! How exciting!!! This gives me a goosebumps, what an amazing thing to start planning. Hmmmm. I would definitely go on a nice, long get-away if you get a chance! Maybe to the wine country in Cali or something. Oh, and I agree with Dollface, I've been skydiving and it was the most amazing thing - we're going to get my husband to go before we start trying. Just not really something you would want to do when you have another little life to be responsible for, albeit still a pretty safe and fun thing to do!

Ah, yay!!!! I would say travel. Of course you can travel when you have children, but, it's much harder to go on long trips (or long distance) trips with young children and then it's the debate of do you leave them with family while you're gone, etc--or wait and not really travel until they're older. Of course every couple handles this differently, but, for me, that would be the one big thing I'd want to do with just my husband and I.

YAY!!!

I'd agree with the travel and pre-natal vitamins. I'm so not at that point, so it isn't something I've given a lot of thought to, but congrats for reaching that point!

I have actually thought a lot about this. Mostly because babies are pretty much all I think about these days. Although my husband and I are still planning on waiting another 3 years, so I have a little longer to plan. But here is what we decided we are going to do (okay, mostly I decided, but Luke went along with it ;-)).

We decided to take a trip that would be our 1 last hurrah before we have kids. It's kind of funny, but our trip is going to be to Orlando Florida. We are amusement park junkies, so we want to spend 3 or 4 days at Disney World and 2 or 3 days at Universal Studios. We also want to go there when we have kids, but I guess we want 1 last time to be kids ourselves in the happiest place on earth before we bring one into the world :-) I'm really excited about that time, and we plan to go all out and JUST HAVE FUN. Even though we still have 3 years to wait!

Sorry to write such a novel :-P

Awww, I'm so happy for you two!
I can't wait to be a wifey and momma!
I think you should get in as much R&R as you can with your hubby. Maybe a little getaway if possible ;)

I'm not a mama but I totally get what you are asking. I keep saying I want one more vacation with just hubs and I before we have a kid. I know that we can get away and someone would be ok with babysitting but who wants to miss vacations without your child? Good question!

How exciting! My husband and I don't have kiddos yet but we'll start thinking about this in the next couple of years too. We've been trying to travel every chance we get before we start thinking about babies. :-)

Hi! Just found your blog today! That's such an exciting decision! I have a 10 month old daughter and I would say just really soak up the time you have alone with your husband. My husband and I have a wonderful marriage but it's still hard when you have an infant who needs so much from you and it gets a little sad not having as much time together as you once did.

Also, we took an amazing honeymoon trip and my hubby wishes we'd taken one more before we had our daughter.

Good luck! I look forward to checking back and following your journey to be parents!

I am right there with you. Want a baby and running out of time just me and hubs!

I think I'd spend lots of time sleeping in, being together, wearing clothes he likes, going on a trip (anywhere, just the two of you) and eating junk food. All that goes away with a baby!

I really want to go on a big trip with Matt before we have a baby...definitely to Europe. Hopefully finances will agree with that! :)

As for preparation - be healthy, get in great shape, take prenatals. Yay baby!

Ahhh very very exciting!!!! Don't feel stressed.... plan mini vacays to some spots you haven't seen. maybe short and simple vacations as opposed to be a big long one so you get to do more!! so funny! as soon as hubby came home he's been in baby mode too! it's exciting when they start talking about this stuff!

WOHA! How did I miss this post! Such big and awesome news girl and I ma so happy for you!!!! I think taking a trip with your husband, before kids, is a great idea so I hope you both get to do this:) I also wanted to thank you for the really sweet comment about me as a wife. It made my heart squeeze that you think I am a good one, because I try so hard and sometimes I feel like I don't get to be just because he's never around for me to be that for him. So thanks, I needed the kind words:) Good luck with the baby making;p
