The Ending of a Love Story

Dear Dr. Carter,

Upon the culmination of our 15 year relationship last Thursday evening, I wanted to express to you just how much our time together has meant to me. For many, many years, we had a weekly "date night" that I looked forward to with such anticipation. I didn't always know who you would be sleeping with, but I did know you would be thinking of me. Some days I didn't know if you were going to live or die, but I know my love for you pulled you through.

The bond we shared was strong, but I took it hard when you left me for Africa. I gave up on watching your friends in the ER...only to return when there was some minute chance you would be reappearing for a visit. Then when you came back a few weeks ago, it was like nothing had changed...no time had passed. It's like you finally realized what was missing for so many years...and we were reunited at last. Although you did scare me half to death with your whole needing a kidney transplant issue, you pulled through and your death is not something I will ever have to endure (thank goodness!).

Although is seems as if you will remain at County General in Chicago, our weekly date nights have ended. We will no longer be able to see each other and my heart is saddened. You have left an impression on my life that can be touched by no one else. There is a smile that only your face can bring to existence, and that smile is gone...

So I bid you farewell John. I will always love you and I will look forward to reliving our times together in syndication.

Forever yours,

Jenny

So for real, did anyone watch the last episode of ER?? I was actually kind of disappointed. It was more like a regular episode than a finale of a show that lasted 15 years. And what's up with Dr. Carter and his wife?? Are they going to reunite...or what? Oh geez...

On another note, I would like to give a huge THANK YOU to A NYC Housewife-In-Training who hooked me up with both of these awesome awards! Thanks girlie...your blog totally rocks! I really appreciate it your thoughtfulness.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Tuesday!

I was very disappointed too. Maybe they are leaving it open like that for a movie...like Sex and the City.

I love the letter! Hah! But yeah, me and my mom were really disappointed. Hopefully they do something that shows what happens or at least gives us something!
Congrats on the awards!

I watched only the last few minutes of it.. I used to watch ER every week, but, over the last few years (ya know, once basically all the original cast was gone) the love just kind of faded. I wasn't exactly thrilled with the ending--I wanted something more dramatic!

Hahha, your letter is hysterical. I never got into ER, but that's probably a good thing...I'm horrible with shows ending...I need complete resolution and the networks never give it to me.
