He saw a Blue-Ray player online and suggested that as a way to go. Well, that reminded me of a gem of a story that happened over Thanksgiving. We stay with Matt's parents when we are in Indianapolis. They have a little bit more room than my parents...not to mention they have a shower that actually has water pressure. Anyways, his dad is pretty into Netflix and always has movies waiting for us to choose from when we are visiting. Well this year, the selection included this:
What? My FIL rented The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants?
Admittedly, I have not seen this movie. But the description alone was priceless:
So Phil. You're telling me that upon reading that description you thought, "Hey! That sounds like a movie I'd like to see! Four best friends! Mysterious pants! Magic! What could be better!?!"
Admittedly, I have not seen this movie. But the description alone was priceless:
Based on Anne Brashares's young-adult novel, this coming-of-age tale centers on four best friends who buy a mysterious pair of pants that fits each of them, despite their differing sizes, and makes whoever wears them feel fabulous. When faced with the prospect of spending their first summer apart, the pals decide they'll swap the pants so that each girl in turn can enjoy the magic.
So Phil. You're telling me that upon reading that description you thought, "Hey! That sounds like a movie I'd like to see! Four best friends! Mysterious pants! Magic! What could be better!?!"
Obviously Matt and I had quite the giggle fit about this pick. My FIL claims he rented it for my MIL.
Likely story Phil. Likely story.
Likely story Phil. Likely story.

LOL! That's too funny! I love the "mysterious pants" part!
LOL that's funny!!
I watched this movie on my 15 hour flight to Thailand last year. It wasn't bad, then again I was stuck on a plane!
Haha. Too funny!
I must admit I did read all the books though and saw the movie. What can I say...I was bored one summer! :)
is it bad if I say that I've seen that movie? And I watched it willingly? Lol Luckily it was on tv so I didn't go see it in the theater or rent it (saves face there right?)
I haven't seen the movie, but the book was one of my favorites when I was younger
Bah!!! I love it. But, I do love the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants books and movies. So don't bash it too much.
Also speaking of last minute - Evan and I are exchanging our stockings on Saturday and he stayed up until midnight wrapping stuff last night. I'm also SLOWLY, very SLOWLY getting used to it.
Hahhaa funny! Love it!
OMG that is freakin' hilarious!!
One of my (big and burly) FIL's fave movies is "Under the Tuscan Sun"...ha!
That's so funny, the movie is pretty good!
this made me laugh for probably 20 minutes straight! Funny thing is, if there is a chick flick on tv, my dad is watching it. Not joking! He loves them! Not in a creepy go rent them for himself kind of way but in a its the best option kind of way! That is unless there is a bond movie on then hes watching that! But seriously, my dad LOVED the traveling pants series!!! hahaha
ahhh such a good way to start my morning! haha
hahaha thats awesome. and what's even more awesome is that your FIL's name is Phil. FIL sounds just like Phil. I like it. (my brain works in mysterious ways - do not question it).
hahaha... hey, i liked that movie! :)
You inspired me SO much!! I made I think three of the cookie/chocolate recipes you posted! The peppermint bark is going to be a tradiiton from now on, it's SO easy! Thanks for sharing! When I post about them I will definitely mention you and give you the credit! :o)
It's funny to imagine a grown man choosing that movie. I like the movie, but I also watch Wizards of Waverly place.
That is hilarious! My FIL always offers for us to watch any of his netflix when we are over but they're usually movies that were made before 1955.
That is so cute! I can imagine my dad doing the same thing for my mom:-)
I actually, secretly, liked that movie!!! I think all girly movies like that are fun. It takes your mind off of things and doesnt make you think too much which I like. xxxxooo
This is probably one of the most awesome things I've heard in awhile. This is, of course, coming from someone who has NOT ONLY seen the first Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants movies, but who rented the sequel at a hotel (meaning it was like $15) on my BACHELORETTE WEEKEND. :) Beat that. Hahahahaha.
