The Biggest Loser: Lucky in Love Style!

Late last year, a few of my co-workers and I were standing around chatting about, what else, reality TV. The subject of The Biggest Loser came up and I offhandedly said, "We should totally do that here!" Well the other women were all for it!

So after a few months of planning and getting the final approval from management, my work is officially starting a Biggest Loser program on Monday! I am crazy excited about this seeing as even with the new year...my motivation has been low and my attitude blah. I wake up energized and ready to be the best I can be...but by the time I leave work...I just want to sit. I feel like something is wrong with me. But I'm a pretty competitive person so I'm hoping this program will be the kick in the booty I need!

What are you ladies doing to work out and stay healthy in the new year? I think I need a new routine. I got burned out doing the same things everyday last year and I started to hate going to the gym. I'm thinking about starting a few new classes next week and hopefully that will help. Any suggestions??

That is so awesome that y'all are doing that at work. Competition does wonders. I do a ton on spinning and interval running. Three times a week I do some sort of Stregth/Cardio workout like The Shred or a bootcamp. I have found that the way I stick with it the most is having people to work out with who will call me out if I don't show up...so if you are like that classes might work really well for you.

I try and eat healthy and healthy snacking while I'm at work. I don't buy the bad stuff at the grocery store so it's not in my house.

I try and workout 3-4 times a week. I do weights every other day at home. I cook healthy meals, most of the time, and try to stay away from bread/ pasta/ sugar.

Good for your office! I've been wanting to bring it up here but I'm kind of scared too! lol

I plan on getting back into Zumba and Pilates this year and be a more productive runner!

Oooh, classes are a great way to break up the routine. I took a great weight lifting class over the summer at my gym (kind of like body pump) and it was always different each week and I made little class buddies, so, and it was a nice break from my running, running, running.

I am a teacher and my school has started a running club and we're all training for a 5K. We are also doing our 2nd year of the Biggest Loser. I won last year but still have about 40 lbs that I would love to lose so I am hoping to win again this year. Like you said I am extremly competitive and hate to lose to anyone. I love the ectra motivation it gives me.

What a great idea!

As far as a new routine, you defintely have to keep it fresh all the time. I get bored easily and in work out ruts which just make me hate the gym even more. Mix it up with some classes, get a DVD you can do at home and weather permitting do things outside too!

Good luck!

Good luck! We did a Biggest Loser competition within my family and the competition got pretty heated, haha!

I get really bored at the gym too so I switch it up with classes (different types - yoga, zumba, pilates, core strength), circuit training, walk/run on treadmill, and anything else that will keep my attention! Have fun!

That's great! It's so helpful to have other motivated people to keep you committed and encouraged.

For me, accountability really helps. So, I've signed up for a beginner's running class which meets twice a week. I run on my own at least one more day each week and go to the gym to do strength training and additional cardio. I am pretty intimidated by classes & groups when in comes to exercise/fitness, so joining the running class was a huge step for me. But it's really working out. I also enjoy spinning classes. The time flies by! I'm too uncoordianted and intimidated to try other classes! haha

Oh, and I just have to say that I waited to read this post until today because I thought it was going to be about the show "The Biggest Loser" and I didn't get to watch it on tivo until last night. I didn't want to know who goes home. :) Do you watch?
