Anniversary Recap & Cake!

To celebrate our anniversary, Matt and I went to Stonewall Resort in West Virginia last weekend. The place was simply gorgeous, filled with nature and fun activities. I won't mention the sign we saw a few miles up the road advertising Hillbilly Haven campgrounds or the Hillbilly Souvenirs being sold at the Marathon station. No, I'll just forget those things even existed.

We got in late afternoon on Saturday. We scoped out some of the highlights of the resort and then decided to have an early dinner at a sports bar. After our yummy pizza, we played some pool! It had been years since I had played...and it showed. I was awful!

Sunday morning after hitting up the breakfast buffet, Matt and I headed out to do some hiking. Now I am not usually a very active girl on vacation. On a vacay of my choice you would likely find me on the beach...only moving to switch positions or eat. But, as you may expect, this is not something Matt finds too thrilling. So hiking I went...

Well, after I laid in bed for a little longer :)

And I'm so glad I did! We saw deer, tons of them, in their natural habitat!! It was seriously the neatest thing on the planet. I think I could've stood there and watched them forever.

On the way back, we found the deer again...in what we assumed to be there home! Can you see her little head peaking up in the middle of the picture?? They were all just laying around relaxing. It was too cool!

We also spotted a turtle on our trail! How unexpected!?! He was so far away from the water! I wonder how long it took him to get there??

Since we took a shuttle to the trail...we had to hike our butts all the way back to the lodge. Would've been nice to know about that Mr. Guest Services man.

P.S. You suck.

But we did catch some good views on the way back.

We spent the entire rest of the afternoon at the pool. Can I just tell you my husband is a fish! I couldn't get him out of the water! It was really nice to see him having such a good time :)

Later we grabbed some lunch at the golf course on the resort grounds. It offered spectacular views!

Best. Rocking. Chairs. Ever.

Sunday evening ended with a nice dinner and more frolicking in the pool. Perfect.

Now Tuesday evening was our actual anniversary. We celebrated with a fantastic dinner Matt chose of sweet corn and crab soup as well as peppered beef tenderloin. Yum! And I provided the dessert! Oreo cake with Oreo buttercream!! Sweet goodness...

Thank you to everyone for all of the beautiful anniversary wishes!! They seriously made my day :) Here's to many, many more!
