A New Do!

First, I just want to thank all of you lovely ladies for your input and encouragement on my quest for a new do. I don't think I would've had the courage to go for the bangs without you!

Yesterday was the day. I went to the salon and started off with a pedicure. I haven't had one since May and somehow I have completely lost my touch at doing my own toenails. They always look awful! So yes, I paid someone money to paint my nails. And it was so worth it! They are beautiful purple (which is apparently very in right now...I'm so cutting edge!) and I love them. I didn't want to post a pic though because I am anti feet photos on blogs. It's my policy :) Plus, my sister wouldn't read my blog again if I posted a picture of a foot.

And as an aside...the lady looked at me when we were done and said, "Have you ever had your eyebrows waxed?" I responded, generally stunned at her forwardness, saying, "No...do you think I should?" Since apparently she does the eyebrow waxing she said...yes...for more definition of course...and to help the shape of my face. I took this time to check out her pencil thin eyebrows and then politely decline. Um, I like my eyebrows lady. And I'd like them to continue to look like eyebrows and not like this:

Now onto my hair cut. We decided on more of the Nicole Ritchie look. I didn't get a before pic because my hair had been up all day so it was seriously creased. But here is a recent pic:

And now...

Please excuse the "I've been at work all day and my makeup has all come off" look. My hair now sits above my shoulders and I have some serious bangs going on. It's a little hard to see because of the color of my hair, but I have a bit of bangs on both sides....just way more on one side...which actually fits naturally with my part so it works. This look is with all of my hair totally straightened.

Now, as I've said, I have to wear it up for work. So here's what it looked like this morning:

I'm able to get all of it up and bobby pin back the bangs. They are all up in my eyes if I don't and that gets on my last nerve.

So, do I like it? I'm not sure yet. I think I do. I'm not used to having hair in my face and honestly it is driving me a little bananas....but now that I have figured out the magic of bobby pins, I'm okay. I'll do the bangs when I wear my hair down...which I intend to do more often on the weekends now that I don't have to straighten the craziness that was my before pic.

I think it looks great! Give it some time and you'll love it. I got my hair cut yesterday too...full-on thick side-swept bangs! I am still adjusting...plus, I am still training my hair to have that deep of a side part, so I am pushing them out of my right eye pretty much every 2 seconds. But, life is good!

Also - don't feel bad about that lady asking if you wanted your eyebrows waxed. That's their job to try and suck money out of you. I do get my eyebrows waxed (because I have absolutely no talent with a pair of tweezers and I hate inflicting pain on myself), and I have been asked before if I wanted my upper lip waxed. Okay, I'd admit it if I was hairy there, but I'm not. I am completely upper-lip hair free (at least for now!!!) and I immediately got a complex about possibly having a mustache.

I think it looks great! The bangs are a little longer so they shouldn't be such a pain. Embrace the bobby pins, I've found a ton of cute styles using bobby pins.

Woohoo, cute! I did the swept bangs for the first time this past year and it was definitely an adjustment! Love bobby pins=) haha! And sometimes when I have gotten my eyebrows done they ask if I want my upper lip done too, thanks Lady for thinking that I have an out of control mustache, haha, they have to ask and try to make more moola=) I can't wait to do something with my hair soon too! So fun!

Super cute!! I think you'll love it, but the bangs will take some getting used too... as they fall in your eyes. But they look super cute, and that's what matters, right?? :)

I had a lady do the same thing! I was getting a mani/pedi for a wedding and she looked at me and went, "eyebrows too, right?" I was shocked....and now I find myself looking at my eyebrows and wondering if I should take the plunge and do it....although, im thinking first ill just invest in a nice lighted magnifying make-up mirror and try that out. :)

I love the new do! You look sophisticated! I love how the bangs were cut...they are bangs but not you know "bangs." lol...the last time I got my hair done I wanted nice long ones like that and instead I got the ugly fourth grade bangs. YUCK! So glad it finally grew out!

I love it. It's super cute. You'll get used to having the bangs in your eyes and then you'll forget what it felt like not to have them there. It's a great style for you and it still looks lovely in a pony tail!

Last time I got my nails done the lady did the same thing to me about my eyebrows ... they just want to get as much $$ out of you as they can.
